Went to meet Darren & Elizabeth on Grandville on Thursday, picked up some Madness & Specials patches from Rock Shop for my jacket, and went out for week #2 of Chronic Taco's crazy Thursday drink special. Then went down to the ChronTox on Cambie/Broadway to meet Amy for phase II. Ended up at her's around midnight where her roommate & I took off for Backstage Lounge to see my old Edmonton friend Joseph's funk band play, and for the $1 beer. Vancouver be crazy.
Spent Friday walking around Vancouver, first down Commercial to buy tickets for the Toasters for some friends, then Grandville to return Darren's gloves, then though downtown and Gastown looking for a restaurant that served haggis (long story). Gave up on my search and stopped in at the Black Frog, the old pub I used to work at, for a nostalgic pint. Walked back to Commercial to meet Erik to hang out at his friend's shop they were renovating for its opening the next day.
B-Line'd it to UBC to hang out with A-team for bit, then we went down to a studio under one of the sketchiest bridges I think I've ever seen. The show was great, I had a lot of fun. Rude City Riot played one of our best shows of the last few months. Well, maybe tied with Victoria. I got smoked in the face on stage, a proper looking cut on my cheek, which I didn't realize was much of anything until Dusty pointed out I was bleeding half-way through the set.
My ride to Edmonton the next day fell though, so I hung around for an extra day and took the red-eye on the Greyhound home, 18 hours on the highway, ~24 hours door-to-door. My first time on the bus for more than 6 hours. It was 16.5 hours longer than my flight out a couple weeks earlier, and a whole $20 cheaper. Lesson learned.
