Lunch at Dadeo with the band, spent the afternoon on Whyte Ave, then soundcheck at Brixx with soundgirl Lacey and soundguy Mike, my friends from Pawn Shop. Hung out with Whiskey Wagon, good friends of mine from back home. Before they played (they killed it btw, I love those guys) went over to New City and saw my good friend Mark behind the board, the gentleman promoter who hooked up a last minute show Wednesday for Uptown Riot and the Jolts. Also saw my friend Mike, saxophonist of the Operators fame play in his new band the Loudhailers. Sounded awesome, couldn't stay long though.
Whiskey Wagon put on a wicked set, it was so good to see them again and hang out with everybody. Holly Sin was there, we reminisced about when she came with Mad Bomber Society on the road for a bit, the tables of cougars, starting rumours, the nice hotel rooms, our one-on-one random contests, the ensuing hilarity. Also hung out with the Give 'em Hell boys who came to check out the show. They're playing with Whiskey Wagon on Canada Day in Edmonton. David Axis was there, Matt Pepper, Ed Smith (super great guy, we've spent a lot of time hanging out playing together in Edmonton salsa band Tumbao Vibe), and Oakland from Raygun Cowboys, who leave on tour next week.
Our set was really fun. Smaller stage, intimate venue, great sound, awesome crowd. The staff is cool, great bar to play. Rich Bomber, who was spinning all night, came onstage to sing on the encore.

After, Nick, Ian, Carol and I rushed over to Black Dog Freehouse to see some more of my old friends. And Devin!! It felt good to be one of the usual suspects again. We missed my friend Wade spin ska/dub/reggae downstairs, but he's coming to the Saint Albert show at LB's, so I'll get to see him again.
Just left Red Deer, en route to Calgary to play Sled Island Music Festival. Stop at the Farnsworth's for a lazagna & turkey feast, then soundcheck, then get to cruise around and check out some other shows before we play. Pictures coming soon!
