Seattle WA (Raygun Cowboys)
I'm on tour playing saxophone for the Raygun Cowboys, a rockabilly band from Edmonton AB. We're travelling in a 31' motorhome. Two beds & a pull-out couch for 5 guys is a whole lot nicer than I'm used to. Plus we have a kitchen, so buying groceries will be a lot nicer on my wallet than fast-food all the time.
Saturday night we played New City Legion in Edmonton AB as a sort of tour kick-off party. Really fun, a lot of people. Hung around town for a few days, left Wednesday night to make Penticton BC for Thursday evening. We played with our friends The Hangers from Montreal. Really fun show, afterwards we stayed up all night around a campfire in the middle of an orchid. Haven't seen those guys since they played New City last Friday!
After penticton we drove into Vancouver BC, my favourite city. My phone isn't working, so I couldn't get in touch with anyone, but a few friends surprised me at our gig. Lacey & crew showed up, and Barb was in town for a convention. Also Tyson & Andrea were there as well, it was a big Edmonton reunion. Played at the Fairview Pub with Buddy Holic, a great Buddy Holly cover band. Also Big John Bates was there, I got to meet him and he complimented us on how the horns sounded with the band.
Crossed the border this morning to play the Highway 99 blues bar in Seattle WA. Great club, dark juke-joint type place. Our first show in the USA this tour, should be a crazy Saturday night.
Here's the band two nights ago in Penticton:
