Calgary AB

Sunday: Wild Bill's at Banff was great. They treated us really well, the hotel was great, and the soundguy was awesome, old punk-rocker from Vancouver. Johnny D (trumpet player from back home) & his wife stopped in, really great seeing familiar faces.

Monday: Drove to Jasper to play the Legion. Spent most of the day walking around, visited Dead Dog. The bar manager at the Legion (Mighty #31) is named Sam, wicked guy. One of the funnest shows of this tour, the hall was packed, everyone was dancing, lights were low, and the band sounded tight.

Tuesday: Hit Edmonton to load-in at the Haven Social Club. Played with Canyon Rose Outfit and King Muskafa, who let me get on stage with them to play a reggae cover of Natural Woman. I was a little hesitant to play my home-town on a week night, but the Haven was slammed and the dancefloor looked crazy from onstage. Went home and put up some of the guys in the band on spare beds/couches. West Edmonton Mall the next day to show them around, Peter aced a hole in mini-golf, but Scotty walked away Champ by a stoke. After WEM we returned to the Haven Social Club for the Wednesday Open Stage, turned into a pretty wild night.

Thursday we left Edmonton early for Saskatoon. I love playing Lydia's because the bandhouse is upstairs attached to the bar. Lydia's is probably my idea of the perfect pub: dart boards, pool tables, classic arcade games, chess, three floors, big stage and a huge sound-system, perfectly dialed-in.

Friday: Calgary. We're just outside of the city now, playing Dicken's Pub with Torches to Triggers and our friends Class Action. I don't know Calgary that well, actually even less than I know Saskatoon, but I've heard really good things about Dicken's.
