Vancouver BC

Arrived back in Vancouver Thursday afternoon with DL-3000, Skytrained (from the airport! still can't get over how awesome that is!) straight to the Seabus to grab some Vancouver-sushi at the Quay. Rehearsed at NAL with Flavio on drums, then K-Tang took me to the Libra Room to catch the sickest tenor-tenor-upright-and-drums jazz quartet ever. They were all the same age as us, but they were blowing the baddest shit. Band of bop prodigies, pretty scary. But motivating, catching that last set was enough ammunition for me to lock myself in my room for a few weeks and get back to shedding the jazz-music again.

Couch-surfing at Jeremy's, which is cool. Rad house in East Van full of musicians. The furnace doesn't work well, so they all have space-heaters in their rooms. Sucks for me, sleeping in the living room: I woke up in the middle of the night (by a strange dog barking at me a few feet from my head) so cold that I could see my breath. Even still, sick digs, I'm glad it's cool for me to stay here.

Woke up this morning and saw Paymon at Chop Shop for another haircut. Haven't seen him for a while, said he'd check out the show Saturday at Railway Club.

We had a photo-shoot during our rehearsal at NAL tonight, so I spent the afternoon getting my hair to happen. I was going to shave the no-shave-November beard, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. It's grown on me. So instead I spent the time trimming the beard and fixing it proper.

After NAL, Kevin and I came back to East Van again to grab some late-night Chinese. Hopefully breakfast at Bon's Off Broadway tomorrow with Jeremy. We should have time. We're all meeting in the afternoon to rent a van and drive to Kelowna to play Doc Willoughby's again. Last time was awesome, the staff at Doc's are awesome.

Afterward, we're driving red-eye back to Vancouver to play X-Mas in Skaville at Railway Club. Then homeward bound, land of clean laundry and bed.
