Stockton CA (Raygun Cowboys)
Played a really fun show in Portland at a little punk hang called Club 21. Really nice inside, a lot of pinball machines, and even though I haven't had the chance to play darts yet this tour, they did have a cheap Big Buck Hunter machine that I used to keep my game in form.
Played with the Twangshifters again, and Mike & I went on stage and played some Wanda Jackson horn-lines like we did in August when Wanda hired the Cowboys to back her up at the Edmonton Folk Festival. Afterward we tailed it to Allen's house, a big place that was mostly vacant on account of most of his roommates being musicians who were away on the road at the time.
Spent the next afternoon trying to fix the generator on the home, and Derrek and I walked down to a strip filled with little restaurants and second-hand clothing stores. Real hipster-meets-hippy.
Drove a few hours that night (Monday night was it?), parked and slept, woke up yesterday morning and finished our drive to Stockton CA.
The venue was nice, and the owners/other-bands/crowd were all really cool. It seems like a nice scene, even though it was the middle of the week and most cats didn't come out because of work or whatever.
After watching the LA Kings win game 1 in OT I ran over to the venue and we played a shorter set than normal. Everybody's voices are going, and the chops are tired for everybody I think.
Right now I'm laying on the bare floor of a Howard Johnson hotel, with just my leather jacket for warmth and my backpack for a pillow. Haven't slept yet and we're about ready to start waking up to check out and hit the road.
Travel day today, then Reseda CA tomorrow! My really good friend / first band-mate lives in L.A. now, so he's planning on coming down for the show. It would be good to see him again, I can't wait!
