Flew into town Wednesday afternoon to make my sushi place for lunch. Settled into Erik's for my stay of couch-surfing and hit rehearsal at our new space in North Van. Sushi for breakfast Thursday, then met Barbara and Jamie from Edmonton on Grandville to walk around, then took them back to Broadway for sushi again at my sushi spot. Another long rehearsal, then back to Erik's for left-over sushi. Skateboarded a lot Friday afternoon, threw a Florida tour t-shirt in Canada Post for Sara in Victoria, then hit Shark Club for soundcheck.
Dan's old friend Fife was the soundman, he was the best, quickest, and funniest soundguy I've ever seen. Doing soundcheck was like being on the business-end of a machine-gun-laden firing-squad. Everything was so rapid and to-the-point.
B-Monster was awesome, a lot of spy flavour, and Giraffe Aftermath was incredible! The horns were great, I didn't get a chance to talk to them at all after though.
Our set was great, strong with a lot of energy off the start. It was Erik's last show with the band, end of an era. Tried climbing around the stage as much as possible. Stages seem to shrink to the same tiny size no matter what when there are 8 guys in the band.
One solid week of rehearsals left, and then we're off for tour with Planet Smashers, Real McKenzies, and Random Hand. Pretty excited, I'm really hoping to learn a lot watching those guys play.
