Vancouver BC

Drove to Vancouver and back last weekend. Left Thursday morning, arrived around midnight just in time to lock the keys in the car. $50 later and it was straight to bed.

Friday afternoon headed to Grandville Street to shop for skinny jeans and vintage clothes, then to Cambie & Broadway for my favourite sushi. Then after a quick nap made Malone's for sound-check. Played with Tre & his band Reggae On The Rocks Friday night, Fresh!! Great band, cool vibe. We played well that night, the sound from on stage was a bit of an issue, and we were playing without Michael (he was out-of-province), but it was still really fun.

Stayed in bed all morning/afternoon Saturday, and after some delicious gnocci hit Malone's for the second of our two-nighter. Giraffe Aftermath was sick, crazy how full they sound as a band even though they're a trio now. Much respect, and the vocal harmonies kill. Our set felt a lot better than Friday's, and I think everybody in the band was playing a little more next-level than we were the night before. Both nights were a lot of fun, hearing Reggae On The Rocks and Giraffe Aftermath was awesome, and Malone's is a great venue downtown Vancouver. I didn't want to leave town to go home after that!

So I didn't. Instead we got together and Erik & Lacey took us to Grandville Island Brewery, then sushi (back to my sushi place on Cambie & Broadway), then wine & Trivial Pursuit, then some movie that I ended up falling asleep during five minutes after it started.

Hit the road Monday for the 1,200 km trip back home to 780. The album is being mixed, soon-to-be-mastered, and the artwork is almost complete for the tentative April release. Can't wait! The rough mixes already sound pretty Tony Danza.
