Vancouver BC

Recording!!!

New Years day (Saturday) I came down with the flu. After a few days my sore throat turned out to be tonsillitis, which turned out to be strep throat. (wtf?)

Flew in Thursday night (my first day out of bed and out of the house since getting sick) and met Erik for cheap Van sushi. My new first-order-of-business whenever I get back to Vancouver. Back to Erik's to crash on his couch.

Friday morning I showed up at Nimbus with enough pain medication to permanently erase my memory if I wanted. Spent all day with Kevin & I laying down the horn parts to four or five songs. Didn't stay late, called the session at about the 12-hour mark. Back to Erik's couch to crash. (And more sushi.)

Saturday afternoon (this afternoon, after going out for sushi for lunch) Erik and I showed up at Mushroom where Erik layed down some bass tracks before Kevin and I hit some more tunes. We only covered two songs this evening, but one of them was my original ("Dan Cowan Riot Stomp") and both songs we recorded had saxophone solos, both of which I'm really happy with. So tonight marks the last of my saxophone solos to be recorded for the album. To celebrate, I'm back on Erik's couch, alone in the house with the lights of and Futurama in the DVD player, blogging and about to fall asleep. (We also ordered in sushi for dinner.)

Tomorrow we're taking band photos for the album artwork and (among other things) wrapping up the last three songs that need horns. This album sounds so amazing, Al (Condor) is an amazing producer.

S.W., 10%, G.B.

I can't wait for this album to be in the can. I'm very proud of how it's sounding, I want everybody in my life to hear what Rude City Riot has been doing these past few months.
